Writing and Darryl

Isadora left Darryl and I alone for 4 hours. We watched tv since he is recovering from a cold. Take it easy day. We sat down with a set of flash cards, a pen and a bag of goldfish crackers. I am watching Anthony Bourdain travel through Laos. Darryl is spelling words on a notepad. He is lying on his belly writing big jagged letters. I am lying on my back watching a Laosian victim of a recently detonated American bomb from the Vietnam war. He has no arms and no legs. Anthony looks uncomfortable. He does a good job of saying how we feel. We are such a passive nation. Our government and military are not...but the American people are. We let our government do what it wants. Then we feel sorry for the victims when the truth finally comes out. We have no idea how bad it must be to be an amputee in a third world country. We have no idea how many there are. We don't go looking either. Why would we bother....Lindsay just broke up with her girlfriend...or so the media thinks. That is a story that is much easy to digest. Lindsay is so pathetic. So are we.

Darryl is spelling word after word. I didn't learn to print until grade 2. Good job, Darryl.
