Be Like Han

So Han’s walking down the halls of Bespin with his old friend Lando. Leia’s there, and lookin’ good. Han thinks he’s off to dinner – maybe some wine, a little flirting, and then back to the ol’ guest quarters with Her Hotness.

But the door opens, and there’s Darth Vader.

Han doesn’t look incredulously at Lando; he doesn’t duck or run away. What does Han do?

He starts shooting at the motherfucker. He starts shooting.

Be like Han.

Today...blah

Work day is almost done. Can't wait to curl up in bed and read. I love the end of work day because I hate the day of work.

I am just sitting here doing bullshit.

Bullsheeeet.

Can't wait to go home.

So positive. Jeff...why don't you move to another company or job. Because this one is easy.

Looks like Isadora is going to start her education classes. I am excited about that. She will earn $50,000 a year. Nice amount of money in our pockets.

Funny observation

One post I am talking about the wonders of BMX racing and then the next post I am complaining about rectal pain

Well this is day one at work. Seems like a slow day so far.

I forgot that my computer still needed setting up...so that is what I am doing right now.

I am going to start/continue writing my novel. I have decided that that is the life I want. The great thing about the current company that I am at is that I can take the time to do it.

I really wish the Nitroglycerin solution would kick in and cure my bumb hole. I keep having to shift and then perform some sphincter squeezes to loosen it up.

Today is the first day of school. Darryl was very nervous/excited. He was wide awake and all dressed when I came downstairs. Told his belly was acting up. It will be a relaxing day once he gets to school. I guess that first day you are hoping you don't make a fool of yourself. He took his spy watch...this can't be good. He sits with a table of three girls. I am sure he is going to start trying to convince them that he is a spy. They are not going to believe him and start calling him out on it. Of course, Daryl is not the type to back down so he will insist that he is a spy and go so far as to tell the teacher that the girls are making him mad because they won't believe he is a spy.

He wants to be an engineer now. I think it is because I went "Wow" when his BMX instructor said that he was going to become a mechanical engineer. Privately, I was like..ugh...yuck. I would prefer he become a spy. Although everything that I have read about the CIA is that they are a cluster fuck organization....unless that is what they want us to think...now that they know what they are doing.

Anal fissures...the healing process

So I was diagnosed with anal fissures. I showed the doctor what part of my rectum was hurting. He recognized it as an anal fissure right away. An anal fissure is a tear in the rectal wall. I have to apply a petroleum jelly/Nitroglycerine mixture to the fissure.

I hate going to hospital pharmacies. They are minimally staffed and yet they service the entire hospital. They gave me a buzzer to notify me when the medication would be ready. I waited an hour in the cafeteria. I went down to see if the buzzer was broken. It was. The pharmacy had buzzed me 45 minutes ago.

Nice.

We went to Darryl's school for meet the teacher night. She is a young cute Vietnamese girl. She seems very nice. His last teacher was nice but stern and high strung. Darryl did well but I think all her yelling got to him a little bit. He doesn't need to be yelled at alot. The kids in his class all seem very smart. He got two kids that misbehave alot. All his girlfriends were put in another class. I guess he will need to make up a new set of girlfriends. Wes is in his class. That is his military obsessed, non competitive, Alfred E. Newman look a like best friend.

Today, I am looking after Darryl while Isadora does some errands. I was hoping to lie on my back and read with our new cat Misty. Misty is my new reading buddy. Pixie is terrified of me and spends her day running away from me. Sam likes to guard my bedroom but doesn't like to sleep on the bed.

I am waiting to have a bowel movement before I apply the Nitroglycerin. I don't want to apply it and then have to go poop and then have to do the ritual all over again. Once I have a shit, I have to wash my ass clean.

Creating a “Million Dollar” Mindset

At the annual convention of The National Speakers Association, in Orlando, FL. One session was restricted to speakers whose gross income exceeded one million dollars (I’m not in this group……yet!). A summary of characteristics of those attending was shared in a separate break-out session. Here they are, in no particular order of importance because they are all important and collectively, they are extremely powerful.
1. You are running a business. Yes, even when you work for someone else, you are in business for yourself. Become serious with work activities. Treat everything you do as a critical link to build your personal successful business.
2. Be passionate. Do what you love and the passion will surface. Don’t settle for a “second rate” career that does not excite you. Life is too short to settle for this compromise. Build passion and you build success.
3. Be focused. Every successful individual has incredible focus on what they want to achieve. It’s the characteristic of every successful event or action.
4. Be caring. Having a deep concern for clients, customers, buyers of your services, or goods is paramount for building a strong customer base. If carried out internally within the organization, you will build a huge following from peers and management.
5. Continuously learn. School is never out for the pro. Successful people are always looking for that next piece of information to build their expertise.
6. Be innovative. Be constantly striving to find new and more effective ways for your work activities. Ideas with inertia don’t grow new direction.
7. Implement. We all know much more than we put into action. Achievers implement and follow-through on their ideas. They don’t let them escape untested and untried. They are results oriented.
8. Be a risk taker. Winners don’t like to lose but they understand they sometimes do. Put boldness into your lifestyle and you just might achieve extraordinary things.
9. Be client focused. Those we serve in our career activities are the individuals we need to “love us.” They become devoted followers and thus increase our results and bottom line.
10. Cultivate a strong work ethic. When you are at work, work! Don’t be unproductive. Give it your all. That’s what clients expect. That is what we are paid to do. That is how we bring more success into our life and business.
11. Be optimistic. Positive always wins over negative. Therefore, create an optimistic outlook in all you do. It’s the mindset of winners.
12. Be realistic. Always seek to know the reality of what is. Don’t live in a fantasy world of make-believe. The truth will set you free and possibly save you a lot or make you a lot of money.
13. Be niched. Narrow your focus on creating your specialization. Become the expert by growing specialized knowledge. Be the “go to” individual in your company or in the marketplace when it involves your expertise.
14. Create systems. Achievers cannot afford to waste time. Therefore, they systemize everything for efficiency and effectiveness.
15. Be very good at helping others get results. The expert can see the forest for the trees and has an understanding others have not yet grasped. By applying all of the above, you will help others get results and you will thus get the results you seek as well.
I dare say most of you possess many, if not all of these characteristics. What’s different with this elite group of speakers, and those still striving to reach their level of success, is the intensity and effectiveness at which each of these characteristics are applied. Where are you on the intensity / effectiveness scale?
